The Idaho state flag features the state seal in a field of rich, deep blue. The seal, affixed in the center features many colors though the ones that stand out are the gold, green, and blue. Within the center of the state’s seal, a woman represents equality, liberty, and justice. Various other symbols included serve as a representation of Idaho’s natural resources, such as its thriving forests, farmland, wildlife, and mines. The shield found in the seal stands for the state’s present as well as it’s long, storied history. The pine tree is to mark Idaho’s state timber, field, and sheaf for its abundant agriculture, and a cornucopia for the state’s horticulture.
There is even found in the Idaho state flag a moose and an elk’s head, showing the protected status of both animals. If you look closely, you’ll even find Idaho’s state flower and a depiction of the Shoshone River. Located in the center of Idaho’s state flag is Esto Perpetua within the seal and Great Seal Of The State Of Idaho in the counter edge. Esto Perpetua is a Latin motto, meaning: “Let it be perpetual,” or, “It is forever.”
