Much like the changes and evolution of our beautiful country, the American Flag has evolved, changed and adjusted throughout its history. The iconic 50 stars and 13 stripes, beloved as well as known as Stars and Stripes, Old Glory, and the Star-Spangled Banner went through changes as territories were added and wars were fought.

During the Civil War, a variation of today's version of the flag was flown. One of those variations featured 34 stars and the familiar 13 stripes representing the original 13 British colonies.
Kansas was admitted to the Union as the 34th state on January 29th, 1861, 2 ½ months before the confrontation at Fort Sumter that marked the beginning of the Civil War. The 34th star was most likely added on Civil War flags between July 4th of that year, or in January.
This 34 stars flag could also have been hand-carried, perhaps used as a military flank-marker or general guide flag. This Civil War flag remained as our country's flag for 2 years, and the only President to have served under this flag was Abraham Lincoln.
The original flags bearing stars of differing numbers reflecting the number of official colonies as they were admitted to the United States are exceptionally rare and have been highly desired. Admired in many American historical societies, experts, fans and history buffs, this unusual formation reflects a time when our country began its growth toward freedom and independence.
Proudly display this unusual flag wherever you like with ease thanks to our rugged brass grommets along the left side. We've hand-selected nylon as the top pick for this antique reproduction flag as it lasts the longest. Nylon is known to help resist damaging UV from the sun, shed water and moisture, and withstand strong wind, all while remaining light. As nylon is a lightweight material, this flag will wave beautifully in the slightest of breezes.
Since 1985, nearly 35 years, the creation of highest-quality flags representing this great nation, past and present, has been our joy. We work hand in hand with our customers, large or small, to give them the exceptional experience and delight with every flag.
