South Dakota became the 48th state to join the United States on November 2nd, 1889. The original flag of South Dakota from 1909 to 1963 was a field of light blue, featuring a blazing sun in bright gold within the middle. Also, in gold, the words: "The Sunshine State," and, "South Dakota," surround the blazing sun. The reverse of the flag at that time depictured the blazing sun in dark blue and the Great Seal of the State of South Dakota. Today's South Dakota state flag features the blazing sun's rays in gold, with the state's great seal resting inside on a field of bright sky blue.
NOTE: Indoor flags are made-to-order, so please allow 2-3 weeks before your order will ship.
